Humfress News 2014

So another year has gone by, and what a year. For those who remember what happened at the end of November 2013, when I fell off my bike. Well 12 months on and it is still giving me grief, obviously nothing like it was last year but what was unknown at the time was that I did more damage to my thigh bone than first thought. I am due to see the specialist on December 10 so will find out more then. An operation may be on the cards but I want to see the x-ray first.

The upside of this is that both Dave and I are gym bunnies. Who would have thought that. Three times a week we are there before 8am even. I am also back using my stick to retrain my brain so I walk more upright and that I don't lollop (a school friend told me that I had always lolloped, even at school.) Dave thought it funny to tell me that he hadn't bargained on being married to an old woman with a stick. As he was driving at the time, I refrained from using said stick on his person.

Given my mobility is not as good as it was, we have moved around a bit. Trips to Jersey, Holland and Hythe have been undertaken. Jersey was fantastic (T-shirts in October! see right) and we met up with a very old friend, a real blast from the past but like it often happens the years fell away and we could not stop talking.

Hythe was a bridge group reunion and as we have the same number of members this side of the channel we did it near Dover and Holland was to see old friends and stock up on those hard to get Dutch goodies.

Family news is that 2015 is going to be a big year for us. A wedding will take place in Sweden. Mark is getting married to the lovely Vik and at the reception when you apparently have a swim; nudity will be optional ! Gosh what a thought. As well as this babies are a coming. Johnny and Hannah are expecting so although I have already been a great aunt to my nephews I am going to be a fantastic aunt to the new bubba.

Both Ben & Lisa are now settled with partners but as yet no sign of anything more; even if Dave is more than ready to be a granddad! Ben seems to be working 24/7 as plumber but Dave has still managed to catch up a few times. Lisa has a new job managing a team of Health Visitors in the community. This which means she no longer works nights which had definitely not been good for her. Dave’s Mum was well enough to go on a cruise earlier this year but with all her problems at 85 years old, her insurance was ridiculous.

Dave's work is going from strength to strength and he is very much in demand. The upside is that I am being given all those niggly jobs that Dave hasn't got time for. My telephone answering skills are going well and sometimes I even know what should be done even if I couldn't do it myself. I know when they should bring their computers here or if Dave should go out to them. My workload for the WI was increasing by an exponential rate so I have had to cut back on that so I could concentrate on what is really important to me/us.

Pewsey is still a lovely place to live (picture shows the start of the yearly wheelbarrow race at carnival). However, we still enjoy travelling about the country. The garden and the veggie patch are looking good, a bit bare at the moment but this morning I can see the spring bulbs poking their heads up. Not too soon I hope, as it has been so mild. We have the hot tub up and running (anyone for a dip?) but the star light nights are a bit short in demand. Dave has put a lovely new bathroom upstairs. Took a while and he did have help from brother in law David.

Christmas will be done here in Pewsey, slightly different to last year I hope. We would like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and all that is good for 2015 in your worlds.
